1000 YOUNG WELSH DRIVERS SIGN UP TO BE BETTER DRIVERS
The Daewoo Young Driver Challenge, organised by the Road Safety Council of Wales and designed to improve the driving skills of young drivers, has attracted over 1000 entrants from throughout Wales since its launch in January.
The 1000 qualifiers have moved on to phase two of the Challenge, consisting of a one day 'be a better driver' training session in their own area that involves both theory and practical elements with specially trained driving instructors.
"We are delighted with the uptake for our Challenge," said the executive officer for the Road Safety Council of Wales, Steve Baker. "It clearly indicates that there is interest amongst young people in Wales to improve their driving skills and stay safe on the road. The 'Challenge to Improve' phase will help each and every one of the participants to become a better driver and by the beginning of next month we will have whittled the number down to two qualifiers from each of the 22 local authorities in Wales."
The winner of the Daewoo Young Driver Challenge, to be selected at a better driving event at the end of June, will take away a brand new Daewoo Matiz compact hatchback inclusive of three years' servicing, warranty and AA Roadside Cover plus free insurance for 12 months.
